A 75-year-old woman from Blackburn, England, suffered horrendous injuries when she was attacked by her neighbour's "pit-bull type" dog last week.
Jacqueline McGrew, 75, had gone next door to her neighbour's house to collect some cat litter that he had bought for her when she was brutally attacked by his son's "pit-bull type" dog.
The pensioner described how she thought she was going to die when the dog started mauling her face and head.
Ms McGrew said: "I thought I was finished. I thought I'd had it. It was a bloodbath. I was covered in blood. It was a real mess.
"I could feel the dog biting my head, biting down on my skull. Then it got my nose. I was screaming with the pain. I must have tried to get the dog off me because it also bit my arm."
Ms McGrew suffered severe cuts to her scalp, as well as a dislocated nose, and a broken jaw.
The neighbour dived on the dog and pinned it to the floor before it could cause further injury to the victim, a paramedic who lived nearby rushed Ms McGrew to the hospital.
The dog that attacked the 75-year-old was reportedly called Kia, and was one of two dogs that were seized by police at the scene.
Ms McGrew added: I'm an animal lover, but with this dog, I would have to say put it down. There is no way that I can think of this dog roaming around." The victim has been told by doctors that it could take up to a year for her injuries to heal.
