Deundrea Holloway has been arrested and charged with the murder of his pregnant girlfriend after she was discovered decapitated at her home in Alton, Illinois. Authorities found the head of the murdered woman in a dustbin outside her apartment.
A man from Illinois has been charged with the murder of his 22-year-old pregnant girlfriend who was discovered decapitated in a dumpster outside her apartment, a crime that has been described by police as "beyond reprehensible".
22-year-old Deundrea S Holloway has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, both for the soon-to-be mother, Liese Dodd, and her unborn child, intentional homicide of an unborn child, and the dismemberment of a human body, Marcos Pulido, Alton Police Chief confirmed in a statement.
Chief Pulido said while holding up a photo of Ms Dodd smiling: "She was savagely, savagely killed."
Ms Dodd, who was planning on celebrating a baby shower that she had been planning with her family soon, was only just over a month away from her due date, was found dead on 9 June by her mother, who had gone to check on her after not being able to contact her.
Authorities later confirmed that it was a homicide case after responding to a call at the Alton apartment on that day at approximately 12.59pm. The head of Ms Dodd was found by police inside the rubbish bin outside of her home.
Mr Pulido said: "What was observed, what was learned, was absolutely terrible"
Ms Dodd and Holloway had an on-and-off relationship for the last two years, police said.
Authorities located the suspect shortly after the investigation into the horrific murder had begun, and when he was located, police said that he refused to identify himself before being arrested.
The 22-year-old suspect is currently being held in jail on a $2m bond.
