British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has been making plenty of noise recently in regard to the conflict in Ukraine. She has told The Telegraph that Vladimir Putin was determined to create a "greater Russia" even though his invasion of Ukraine has failed to achieve the quick success that he wanted.

Russia is still referring to the invasion of Ukraine as a "special military operation" aimed at disarming Ukraine and removing the country of radical anti-Russian nationalists. Ukraine along with its allies dismiss these claims as a baseless pretext for war.

The attention of Liz Truss has now moved to Moldova, which borders Ukraine to the southwest and is not a member of the NATO alliance.

Truss has said that Britain was in talks to ensure that Moldova has the required defences to deter any potential future invasion by Russia.

"I would want to see Moldova equipped to NATO standard. This is a discussion we're having with our allies," Truss said to The Telegraph.

"Putin has been absolutely clear about his ambitions to create a greater Russia. And just because his attempts to take Kyiv weren't successful doesn't mean he's abandoned those ambitions", she added.

If Liz Truss's plans are brought to fruition it would see NATO members providing Moldova with modern weaponry and training soldiers on how to use it.
