In an interview with the BBC, Neil Parish has said that he is resigning as an MP after he admitted to watching pornography twice while in the House of Commons.

MP for Tiverton and Honiton in Devon - Neil Parish - claimed it had been a "moment of madness" and "I was not proud of what I was doing".

Mr Parish claimed that the first time he was caught on adult websites it was actually a mistake, stating he was trying to look at tractors, but he admitted that the second time was deliberate.

Two female colleagues complained that they had seen him looking at pornography on his phone while sitting near them - He was suspended by the Conservative Party on Friday following the allegations.

During an interview with BBC South West, Neil Parish said: "The situation was that - funnily enough, it was tractors I was looking at. I did get into another website that had a very similar name and I watched it for a bit which I shouldn't have done. But my crime - biggest crime - is that on another occasion I went in a second time."

When questioned on whether that time was deliberate, he replied: "That was deliberate... that was sitting waiting to vote on the side of the chamber."

"What I did was absolutely totally wrong," he added.

Mr Parish while appearing somewhat emotional said that he was standing down from his position as an MP after seeing the damage it was causing his constituency and his family.

"I was wrong, I was stupid, I lost sense of mind," he said.

The British MP offered his apology: "I make a full apology. A total full apology. It was not my intention to intimidate."

Initially, Neil Parish said that he would remain an MP while an investigation into his conduct was carried out. However, overnight, under significant pressure, he changed his mind and resigned.
