The British holidaymaker - believed to be just 19 years old - was pushed two the ground, suffering serious head injuries in the incident and is currently in intensive care at Zante's General Hospital.

It is expected that the 19-year-old will be transferred to Tzanio Hospital in Piraeus. Local reports stated that prior to the incident the young British man was on a boat with other holidaymakers from the UK enjoying a tour of the island. When the boat arrived at the port on Wednesday night, it was reported that the group of tourists got into an argument that quickly became violent.

Another member of the group reportedly pushed the teenager to the ground, causing him to hit his head.

The group was due to board a bus together to attend an after-party according to witnesses.

Two of the British tourists involved in the incident were arrested by the Coast Guard and are currently being held in the Port Authority's detention facilities.

The men were all holidaying on Zakynthos in Greece, one of the most exotic and beautiful Greek islands sitting in the heart of the Ionian sea.
