A hapless burglar from the UK has been jailed after attempting to break into 11 properties in one night in Hull, he was quickly caught after numerous residents captured footage of him on their doorbell cameras.
38-year-old Antony Beaumont became somewhat of a failed one-man crime wave when he targeted eleven homes in the Anlaby Common area of Hull, England, on the same night. The offences took place in February 2022.
Beaumont, of Gee Street, Hull, was jailed for three years at Hull Crown Court after pleading guilty to a number of burglary offences. He was charged with 11 counts of attempted burglary and convicted of seven of them.
The 11 attempted burglaries took place in the early hours of Wednesday, February 9, this year.
Sergeant Andy Robinson said: "I am pleased with the sentence handed down to this prolific burglar who looked for an opportunity to break into people's properties. Theft and burglary are serious offences that cause great distress to residents. "We will continue to do everything we can to disrupt criminals who think they can carry out crimes of this nature. We would encourage residents to take precautions to ensure their home is as safe as possible, especially as the warmer months have arrived. "Beaumont was caught out here because a number of residents had captured images of him on their home security devices, which meant we were able to quickly arrest him before he could commit any further crimes."
