Joshua Delbono, 18, from Frome, Somerset, has been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Charley Bates, who was stabbed to death in Radstock on Sunday.
Emergency services responded to a call of a disturbance between a group of youths in a car park in Radstock at around 6.40pm on Sunday evening. Charley Bates, 16, who lived in the area, was found with fatal injuries, despite the efforts of paramedics, the young boy was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Charley's grieving family said: "Our beautiful Charley Boy. We are all so very proud of you. You are desperately missed by so many."
On Tuesday, police charged Joshua Delbono, 18, of Frome, with murder. Delbono will appear at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday.
Officers investigating Charley's death have arrested three other people in relation to the incident. An 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were both arrested on suspicion of murder, while another man, also 18, was held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The woman has since been released under investigation, while the two men remain in custody for further questioning.
Chief Inspector Ronnie Lungu said: "We're standing with our community to support this devastated family and everyone affected by this tragedy." DCI Mark Almond, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said that Charley Bates's family were being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.
"They're grateful for the support of the community but ask to be given privacy to mourn their loss", he added.
