Colorado Club Q Shooting: Suspect Named After 5 People Killed & 18 Injured In Mass Shooting

A man is in custody suspected of carrying out a mass shooting inside a gay club in the US state of Colorado on Saturday night. The gunman opened fire killing 5 and wounding 18 before being restrained by partygoers.

Police said that two "heroic" people in the club subdued the shooter, who has been named as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich, the suspect is in police custody and being treated for injuries.


The gunman is said to have opened fire on partygoers during a dance party at Club Q, the nightclub was due to hold a performance event on Sunday evening to celebrate Transgender Day of Remembrance.


Club Q, in Colorado Springs, released a statement on social media, saying it was "devastated by the senseless attack on our community".



Local police have asked for patience from the public while they work to identify victims and finalise the number of casualties.


Police received a 911 call reporting an active shooter at 23:57 local time on Saturday.


The 22-year-old shooter was found inside the premises when police arrived.


Authorities have not confirmed the motive behind the shooting and have said the number of dead and injured could change as the investigation progresses.
