63-year-old Reginald Alan Roach was discovered by a member of the public walking their dog on the Bryn Cegin industrial estate in Bangor on Sunday.

An inquest into Mr Roach's death was opened at a hearing in Caernarfon today and was led by senior coroner Kate Sutherland.

The inquest heard how Roach was found unresponsive by the dog walker after sustaining severe "wounds" to his groin.

Dr Brian Rodgers carried out a post-mortem examination on Roach, and Mrs Sutherland gave the provisional cause of death as "shock and haemorrhage due to incised wounds removing genitalia."

The hearing was then adjourned pending the results of further investigations.

Just a week before his death, Roach had appeared at Llandudno Magistrates Court, facing a charge of failing to comply with notification requirements in relation to the sex offenders register.

In August, Roach admitted to exposing himself to staff at a Travelodge Hotel. He had previously been placed in the hotel by the council.

He was handed a 16-week suspended jail sentence and ordered to pay £150 compensation to the staff member that he exposed himself to - he was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register.

In 2020, Roach confessed to destroying a poppy memorial the day after Remembrance Sunday.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said that the force was not looking for anyone else in connection with his death.

They said: "Following our statement earlier this week regarding the death of a man who was discovered collapsed at Parc Bryn Cegin, Llandegai, the Coroner today opened an inquest.

"Following a Home Office Post Mortem, and to end unhelpful speculation, we can confirm that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death of Reginald Alan Roach, but would renew our appeal for anyone who saw an elderly man, approximately 5'8" tall and wearing blue jeans with a grey hooded top in the area between 10am on Sunday, November 5, and 9am on Sunday, November 6, to please contact us.

"We will not be making further comment as the matter remains with the local Coroner."
