A pensioner from Leicester who abducted and raped a 12-year-old schoolgirl who he met online has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars for his horrendous crimes.
66-year-old Dinato Rizzi began grooming the schoolgirl after her mother confiscated her mobile phone and she managed to sign up for a dating website through her smart TV.
The victim later confessed to her mum that an older man who she had met online had picked her up and taken her to his house.
When police interviewed the 12-year-old, she disclosed to officers that she had met with Rizzi on numerous occasions and sexual activity had taken place at his home.
Rizzi was arrested in January but told police that he had done nothing wrong as he believed the girl was 18.
Police discovered messages from Rizzi to his victim, where he acknowledged that the girl was under 16 and had described how he would cover his tracks if he got caught.
It came out that Rizzi had raped the girl multiple times at his property, and at a trial at Nottingham Crown Court he was found guilty of 13 sexual offences.
Dinato Rizzi was found guilty of the following offences:
Two counts under the Child Abduction Act namely taking a child so as to keep her from a person having lawful control
One count of taking indecent photographs of a child
One count of taking an indecent image of a child
One count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration
Four counts of rape of a child under 13
Two counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration
Two counts of rape of a child under 13
The mother of the girl spoke about the abuse against her daughter, she said: "I was just relieved that at least she is alive and she came home. I can't imagine what it would be like if it wasn't that way.
"She knows what has happened is not okay but she has blamed herself which is how the grooming has made her look at it.
"She should be at a point in her life where she is looking forward to her future but she feels she doesn't have one.
"She can't see her friends as much and her school work has suffered massively.
"Her social development has suffered in many ways as well and she continues to sleep in my room at night."
