CCTV footage shows the moment a strong wind uprooted a tree on Ukrainian Boulevard in Moscow. The tree landed on a man, killing him on the spot on July 10 in Russia's capital city.
The Moscow prosecutor's office said: "On the evening of July 10, a tree fell on a man on Ukrainian Boulevard. He died on the spot."
The video footage that was captured by a nearby CCTV system showed the man sitting looking at his phone just a few metres away from the tree.
A strong gust of wind then caused the tree to uproot, before landing directly on top of him.
Sergei Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, said that 10 people had required hospital treatment after being injured due to the recent bad weather in the city.
He said that intense thunderstorms were likely to continue causing disruption in the capital, adding that authorities were taking extra measures to deal with the incoming bad weather.
