Man Arrested After Body Of Missing Mother Found In Country Park in Basildon, Essex

Police have charged a man with murder after finding the body of a young mother who has not been seen for over a week, the deceased woman was discovered in a country park.

30-year-old Madison Wright, of Basildon in Essex, was last seen alive on July 22, authorities issued an appeal trying to locate her, saying she was wearing a pink top, black trousers, and flip-flops.


Her black Vauxhall Astra was found four days later on July 22 in Brackendale Avenue in Basildon.


On Friday, Essex police arrested a man in connection with her death, and on Sunday, officers charged 36-year-old Gary Bennett with murder.


Bennett, of Caister Drive, Pitsea, appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on Monday.



Authorities said that the body was discovered at Wat Tyle Country Park in Basildon on Saturday, the park as well as the nearby recycling centre is closed while officers continue their inquiries.


The body has yet to be formally identified but the family of Ms Wright has been informed and are currently being supported by specially trained officers, Essex police said. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, in particular anyone who saw Ms Wright or her car between 8.30am on July 22 and Tuesday, July 26.
