Megan Newborough murder: Ross Macullam appears in court on murder charge
Ross Macullam, 29, appears in court today charged with the murder of 23-year-old Megan Newborough who was found dead on a country road near Woodhouse Eaves in Leicestershire on Sunday.
Megan Newborough, a 23-year-old woman from Nuneaton was reported missing on Saturday afternoon, her body was later found on a country road near Woodhouse Eaves in Leicestershire on Sunday.
Ross Macullam, a 29-year-old from Coalville was arrested and later charged on suspicion of her murder. Macullam, today appeared in front of Leicester Magistrates Court.
He spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth in his first court appearance. The case has now been sent to Leicester crown court. A please and trial preparation hearing is scheduled for the 1st of October whilst a provisional trial date is set for the 7th Marsh 2022.
Ross Macullam, of Windsor Close, Coalville has been remanded in custody until the trial.
Ms Newborough, from Nuneaton in Warwickshire, was discovered dead on Charley Road after police were called there in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Her family said in a statement: "There are no words to describe how much we as a family are completely heartbroken and devastated.
"Megan was the most generous, loving and caring person and we have been robbed of our treasured daughter."
