Police have launched a murder investigation and are searching for a man after two women were stabbed, one fatally, in Newham, east London.
Police found two women suffering from stab wounds at a residential property in Windmill Lane, Newham, at around 3.35am on Sunday morning, London's Metropolitan Police confirmed.
One of the victims, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while another woman, in her 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment.
The injuries sustained by the second woman are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said that they have launched a murder investigation and are hunting for a man who is believed to have been known to both victims.
Authorities have not released any details about the suspect.
Chief Inspector Lisa Parker said: "I know that people in Newham and in particular those in the Stratford area will be shocked and concerned by this tragic incident. I share their concern and can assure them that specialist detectives are working at pace to identify and arrest whoever was responsible."
