Parents Charged After Baby Mauled To Death By Family Dog
The parents of three-month-old Kyra Leanne King have been charged over her death after she was killed in an attack by the family husky dog.
The baby girl was killed by a husky at Ostler's Plantation near Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, at 11:13pm on March 6.
Kyra received treatment at the scene for serious injuries to her neck and head, but despite the best efforts of paramedics, sadly died.
Both parents, Vince King, 54, and Karen Alcock, 41, of Castledyke Bank, New York, Lincoln, have had criminal charges filed against them in connection with the tragic death of their daughter.
They are both due to appear before Boston Magistrates Court - charged with being in charge of a dog that was out of control causing injury resulting in death.
Detective Constable Craig Davey, the lead investigator in the case, said: "This has been a profoundly sad investigation for everyone involved in understanding the circumstances around baby Kyra's death.
"We have kept an open mind throughout this investigation, which has been lengthy and thorough and involved specialist forensic experts and officers from our Protecting Vulnerable People unit.
"We have now brought charges against two people, and will continue to work the CPS as the case makes its way through the justice system."
Both parents were arrested by officers at the scene of the incident before being released pending further investigation. Police are now seeking an order to euthanise the dog, which has been kept in secure kennels ever since the attack.
