A 25-year-old pervert has been jailed after being caught recording a young woman while she was in the toilet in a Leeds train station.
A court heard how on Friday, July 8, a young woman was leaving a toilet cubicle at Leeds train station when she noticed a camera flash, upon looking up she saw 25-year-old James Foster leaning over from the cubicle next to her while holding his phone.
The woman ran from the cubicle and shouted to warn the other women in the toilets when Foster emerged. The victim challenged him and told him to hand over his phone, although she tried to stop him, Foster ran off.
Convicted pervert, James Foster, of Leylands Road, Sheepscar, Leeds, pleaded guilty to a charge of voyeurism and in doing so breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He was sentenced to 14 months behind bars at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday.
Foster was also given a seven-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for seven years.
Detective Constable Gregg Whittaker said: "This was a disgusting invasion of privacy - the victim was justifiably left shaken, upset, and violated by Foster's actions. The fact that Foster was in breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order he had received for a previous offence meant a custodial sentence was inevitable. "I hope his time in jail will give him the opportunity to reflect on his sordid behaviour, the impact on his victim, and ultimately prevent him from reoffending. We will not tolerate unwanted sexual behaviour on the railway and we urge people to report anything that makes them feel uncomfortable."
