According to T&R Productions, the production company behind the Russian state-funded network RT America, productions will cease and almost all staff will be laid off.
The general manager of T&R Productions, Misha Solodovnikov, told staff in a memo that it will be "ceasing production" at all of its locations "as a result of unforeseen business interruption events."
"Unfortunately, we anticipate this layoff will be permanent, meaning that this will result in the permanent separation from employment of most T&R employees at all locations," Misha Solodovnikov wrote.
T&R Productions held offices in Los Angeles, Washington, New York, and Miami.
This news will mean an end to RT America. The network, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's main mouthpieces in the US, was dropped earlier this week by DirecTV, dealing a major financial blow to it. The satellite carrier was one of the two major television providers in the US to carry the network.
ROKU, a company that allows users to stream content through the internet, also confirmed that it had banished RT America from its online platform.
RT, which operates multiple networks throughout the world, has seen its reach significantly drop over recent days as many technology and television providers have cut ties with the company due to Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine
Numerous employees from RT's various networks have also gone public with their recent resignations from the company.
According to an email obtained by CNN, RT America employees who worked from the Washington offices were told on Wednesday that an all-staff meeting would occur on Thursday afternoon.
Producers, hosts, and correspondents gathered in the RT America lounge, Solodovnikov told them the news in person according to a member who attended the discussion.
"The meeting was all about two minutes," the attendee said, explaining that Solodovnikov told the assembled staff RT America would be stopping production and that staff would be provided two months of paid severance.
The attendee, who has requested anonymity to discuss the internal deliberations, explained to CNN that the mood in the office was somber.
"A lot of people were shocked," the person said. "A lot of people were crying."
Solodovnikov did not respond to a request for comment. Another spokesperson for RT America did not respond to several requests for comment.
