Suspected Paedophile Named After Stabbing Himself In The Neck

A suspected paedophile has been arrested and charged with a number of child sex offences after stabbing himself in the neck outside a police station in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police confirmed that the suspect had been detained and taken to hospital by Police on St Chad's Drive in Kirkby at approximately 5pm on Friday after stabbing himself in the neck directly outside Kirkby Police Station.


Authorities confirmed that 55-year-old Stephen McLoughlin, of Pitsmead Road, Kirkby, had been arrested on suspicion of grooming a child under the age of 14 and possession of a bladed article.



The force has today, Tuesday, August 30, confirmed that McLoughlin has been charged with the following offenses:


  • Attempt to engage in sexual communication with a child

  • Attempt to incite a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity

  • Attempt to engage in sexual communication with a child

  • Attempt to incite a girl aged 13 – 15 to engage in sexual activity

  • Possession of a bladed article
