A 56-year-old Italian man has been killed in a horrific shark attack whilst snorkeling off the Colombian island of San Andres.

An Italian tourist has died after being attacked by a shark in the waters off a stunning Caribbean island. The man, who was named by local press as Antonio Roseto Degli Abruzzi, but has since been named in Italy as Antonio Straccianlini, was violently attacked by the 8ft shark as he snorkeled on the coast off the Colombian island of San Andres.

The 56-year-old victim was from Roseto Degli Abruzzi on the east coast of central Italy.


The man was bitten in the thigh whilst snorkeling in the popular area of La Piscinita on Friday, March 18.

Shortly after the attack, it is reported that Mr Straccianlini went into shock before dying from blood loss.
