Tragedy As 20-Year-Old Footballer Dies During Training Session

Heartbreaking news from South America following the sudden death of a young footballer who was killed after suffering a cardiac arrest during a training session.

20-year-old Djouby Laura, who played football for USC Roura, tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest during a training session late on Thursday, August 11.

The striker was training at the Cimonard Urbain stadium before suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. Emergency services attended the scene and performed CPR on the young footballer, but despite their best efforts, he was tragically pronounced dead a the scene.


Local media reported that Mr Laura had played for USC Roura since he was 12 years old and had started playing for the senior team just two years ago.

He turned 20 on August 3, making him one of the senior side's youngest players.


Jean-Claude Labrador, mayor of Roura, a commune of French Guiana, an overseas region and department of France located in South America, said: "He felt unwell, despite the care given by the on-site management and the firefighters, he did not come back."


Emile Baal, a senior coach of USC Roura, said: "He had pain in his lower limbs and asked to stop the session to rest, which I advised him.


"A few minutes later, one of his friends told me that he was no longer answering."


Tributes have been pouring in all over social media for the popular young footballer who has tragically had his life cut short.
